Penelope the Pipe Organ

Introduction

The organ is based on plans published by John Smith.  John has been developing organs suitable for home construction for several years.  Topsy 3 is his latest design.

Specifications

The completed organ will have 100 pipes, a 22-note glockenspiel and various percussion instruments.  Full details can be found here.

The Story So Far

The rest of this site will  be used as a progress report.  I will try to keep it updated as the project goes on but, on the whole, I am more inclined to work on the organ than this web site so it may lag behind a bit.

Last December I took part in a concert at the St Albans Organ Museum with several other amateur organ-builders.  As well as playing a solo piece, I was able to play two duets with a similar organ, built by Terry Pankhurst.
